What is SpaceUp?

SpaceUp is a space unconference, where participants decide the topics, schedule, and structure of the event. Unconferences have been held about technology, science, transit, and even cupcakes, but this is the first one focused on space exploration. Everyone who attends SpaceUp is encouraged to give a talk, moderate a panel, or start a discussion. Sessions are proposed and scheduled on the day they’re given, which means the usual “hallway conversations” turn into full-fledged topics. Read more at spaceup.org

What is an unconference?

It is all up to you! This is a participant-driven meeting, which means that you can talk about whatever topic you want, as long as it concerns directly or indirectly space or aeronautics.

Do I have to work in the space industry to attend?

Not at all! Having an interest in space is largely enough to attend to SpaceUp. This is the wide panel of the participants’ backgrounds that makes all the interest of each SpaceUp session.

Can I give a talk?

Sure! You can definitely go for it. All you have to do is to bring any material you will need (slides, laptop, etc). Each talk is supposed to last around 15 minutes, in this way every participant will be free to share his or her opinion and ideas. If everyone is encouraged to share and talk during SpaceUp, you don’t have to do your speech on your own! Talk to other participants and share interests with them are also part of the game.

Do I have to give a talk?

No, you don't have to give a talk, but you are highly encouraged to! SpaceUp is made by the participants so without participant talks, SpaceUp will not be so interesting.

Will there be food?

Yes! Food, drink and coffee are included in the partcipants fee
